BAD weather and a lack of animals didn't stop hundreds of visitors from flocking to a village sheep fair at the weekend.
The Corby Glen Sheep Fair went ahead as planned on Saturday, despite blustery winds, but on Sunday, many events had to be cancelled because of the weather.
The sheep auction, due to be held today, had alrady been cancelled because of low entry numbers.
Visitors enjoyed a children's day with a circus workshop, a fun run, a pet show and a fun fair, which proved extremely popular. On Sunday, there were Morris dancers and a market, but the clay pigeon shoot and a village football competition, which would have included an appearance from the former England Rugby Union player Rory Underwood were called off.
Steve Honeywood, one of the organisers, said he was pleased by the support of the village.
He said: "It was an interesting weekend. We were able to do what we had planned on Saturday but on Sunday the weather was making things difficult. We still had the market, which was smaller than planned, and the craft market.
"Both teams of Morris dancers carry on whatever the weather and by the end of the afternoon, the sun was starting to shine again. It was all very impromptu, but the Morris dancers carried on in the pub in the evening, which everyone enjoyed.
"It was totally different to what we expected, but we haven't seen these conditions for some years. We had a good afternoon."
He estimated that between 400 and 500 people attended each day.
Mr Honeywood said: "There were certainly less people than we would normally have. We were pleased with the turnout considering the conditions. Everyone did seem to enjoy themselves."
Organisers hope to attract the sheep auction back to the fair next year, which had to be cancelled this year because of a low number of entries for sale.
Mr Honeywood said: "We are hoping to see the auction back next year because we all enjoy it and we are now looking forward to a good event next year."
