MORE than 300 varieties of apples were displayed at a popular annual event held at Stamford Arts Centre on Saturday.
Stamford Community Orchard Group's Apple Day attracted about 1,500 visitors.
They were able to taste distinctive apples, as well as learn more about the town's orchard heritage.
People were also able to take along homegrown apples for identification and see produce displays, while youngsters were able to have their faces painted.
Organiser Richard Keeble said money brought in from the event was still being counted but a significant amount had been raised to support orchard projects in Stamford.
He said: "It was a busy day with a lot of people coming along and we're now already looking ahead to next year's event."
Two hundred posters were entered into a community competition encouraging youngsters to send in images of orchards and the winners were announced at the Apple Day.
Primary schools which participated were St Gilbert's, St Augustine's and Malcolm Sargent in Stamford and Copthill in Uffngton.
The winners in the five to six age group category were Hannah Lowe, six and Dominic Northwood, also six. In the seven to 10 section Artharva Pansare, seven, and Emma Youngs, 10, won and in the collage category Lydia Stevens, five, and Olivia Hamilton, six, were winners.
