I was shocked and amazed by last week's front page of the Bourne edition.
Never before have I seen the Mercury accord front page coverage including photo, bio pic and party propaganda given to a single candidate in an election.

The fact that the candidate in question represents a party whose extreme views are obnoxious to the majority of right-thinking people only makes it worse.

I do not contest the right of the BNP to field a candidate, but to give such credence to these extremists on the front page of the Mercury is an editorial decision that I for one find curious.

Many people from the Bourne area have contacted me to express shock and disgust at the article.

Bill Turner
Chairman,
Grantham and Stamford Constituency Labour Party,
