In the Mercury on August 10, there were two letters, one from R Britton, a Gipsy Council member and Mark Horn, a councillor from Bourne.
As usual in these sort of circumstances those in 'authority' quote rules and regulations.
Ms Britton says she didn't experience any trouble in 19 years on the Oxney Road site, has she really seen it? Take a look at it now, rubbish everywhere.
Also aren't a lot of these or those children he was talking about born here? If so what race are they?
Are they not British like the rest of us? So why the special treatment? They choose to live this way.
Mr Horn seems to have the same romantic view of travellers that South Kesteven District Council does.
In its last review, the council seems to think travellers will arrive in Romany painted caravans drawn by horses.
At least the council official at the Deepings meeting had the sense to apologise for that tainted view.
As Mr Horn kindly says "the camps need to be close to built up areas so the travellers can access health care, schools etc." Thank you Mr Horn, because you have just blown the whole thing open, because Ms Britton stated she was an on site school teacher for 19 years.
Not much integration and access to local communities there. Isn't the whole argument these sites won't and don't want to be part of a proper community.
Those of us who are in the real world know how it will really be. That is is why so many law-abiding, tax-paying, council tax-paying people are complaining.
