I write on behalf of the Rotary Club of Uppingham, the Beeches Residents' Association and the Co-ordinating Committee of Classics in Uppingham to thank everyone who helped make this year's event such an outstanding success.
By the end of the day, more than 120 vintage or classic cars had joined the fun creating a marvellous setting for live performances of music and dancing and our exhibitions.
The committee would particularly like to thank all the participating scho
ols, the businesses which sponsored or subsidised events, the many volunteers who worked on the day and the organisations which allowed the use of their premises and facilities.
Many visitors commented on the excellent teamwork exhibited by the community. It was rewarding to see so many smiling faces in the sunshine and to hear such positive comments about the town.
Particular thanks must go to those residents who generously gave up their usual parking space for the day. Without their co-operation the event would not have been possible.
Winner of the Favourite Car competition was the 1963 Austin Healey BJ7 owned by Brian Braid, of Stoughton in Leicestershire. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Air Ambulance.
Finally a big thank you to everyone who came along on the day.
