As I was born in Stamford, presumably I am allowed to add to last week's Stamford Independent Group letter.
Because someone has chosen to live in Stamford, instead of being here by luck of birth, it does not make him, or her, less or more able to contribute to the community.

We should be pleased that people coming into Stamford want to be involved, and we should welcome them.

Similarly we hope that the many Stamford-born people who leave here are welcomed into their new communities.

There are many activities taking place that rely on new Stamfordians taking part, and even instigating them. This should be encouraged and not a 'them and us' mentality.

MARTIN GRIMES
King's Road,
Stamford
